What is Self-Determination?

Understanding your own strengths, interests, and growth areas, developing goals, and working towards achieving them.

Why does it matter?

It is very common for neurodiverse students with IEPs to lack confidence in themselves and their abilities. This can lead to anxiety about life after high school and overwhelming self-doubt. Students must explore their strengths and engage in person-centered planning so that they are the true drivers of their own post-secondary process. The student’s voice matters the most in setting goals and developing concrete action steps towards meeting them.

I work alongside neurodiverse students with mild to moderate disabilities as a partner on their road to post-secondary success.
